I love walking along side of students encouraging them to be disciples of Jesus Christ. The ideal way to do this is for parents to be the primary spiritual teacher of their children. I want to do everything possible to make/grow this kind of true disciple to the glory of God!
Through my college years and really until we had children I traveled quite a bit as an itinerate worship leader and speaker (that’s a lot of camps, retreats, & revivals). I worked full-time with the Northeast BSU from June of 1997 until January of 2007 when I became the Minister of Students at East Booneville Baptist Church. East Booneville & Bro. Wayne both allow me to keep an office at the BSU where I still get to disciple college students and teach at each Wednesday Luncheon (11:30-12:30) during the Fall & Spring semesters. I do enjoy being around college students during the school year. In late 2022 my job description at East Booneville changed to Associate Pastor to focus on being a resource/help to family ministry (children & youth), media ministry, as well as coaching leaders.
My favorite ministry is that of husband to Carolyn and then followed by daddy to our teenagers, Anden & Gray. People that know me well would say I’m an introvert (got to have that alone time). Music is playing in my head most of the time. Sometimes I sit behind a piano or guitar to let it escape. I usually have a project going on…a musical project, a blog, a podcast, & the like. I love my wife, Carolyn, & loathe the mall. This is the tension on which I live.
Grace without truth isn’t very graceful. And truth without grace isn’t very truthful. Jesus walked the line perfectly. Me, I’m still learning.
